1-1 Somatic Coaching for writers,
artists and the open-hearted
Together, let’s clarify and take action towards your desires and goals, welcome greater authenticity, learn how to move with rather than against blocks, and expand capacity for experiencing aliveness and success. I support writers and artists who are ready to take the next step with their creative work and/or change in their lives, and recognize that internal and external transformations go hand in hand. My clients and I believe that our bodies and minds hold the wisdom, resources and information we need to thrive. Through somatic coaching, I offer gentle but impactful, client-centered support in embracing and navigating change and expansion.
how we’ll reinvigorate and refine your creative practice
Light Work
Much of what's needed is already known to you, already "in the light" of your conscious mind. Together, we’ll clarify your purpose and goal(s), and then use a range of coaching strategies to explore desires and options and envision a path forward. We’ll welcome and process the feelings and experiences that transformation inevitably brings.
Shadow Work
There are also internal forces running the show for us that we are not, or only vaguely, aware of. Blocks and resistance give us powerful insights to work with rather than against. Somatic practices can help you access and follow your innate wisdom, especially those parts that are currently "in the shadow" of your unconscious mind. Exploring blocks and boundaries can help you find new options beyond your old, conditioned responses, supporting all parts of you as continue to align your actions to your values. This process is about integration and developing your own inner resources as you begin to move differently in the outer world.
Action Planning
While our work will increase your inner awareness, our goal is for an outward manifestation of change. For many of my clients, this means deepening creative processes, or completing a challenging creative project. There is plenty of space in our sessions to co-create, follow, and refine clear action plans, getting you the creative results you desire.
coaching cycle options
-
A series of coaching sessions spread out over 3-18 months to support the development of a major creative project or creative career pivot. Clarify purpose and goals, develop plans and take action, and develop somatic resources for working with and through blocks, moving towards greater authenticity and productive flow. Generally, we begin meeting biweekly, and move towards meeting every 3-5 weeks as you gain momentum, until completion of the coaching cycle, when you’ve met your intended goal.
-
Regularly scheduled sessions for creative adolescents and adults (students, teachers, artists, writers, scholars, creative business owners) who need support co-creating organizational systems, prioritizing tasks, planning and taking action, and self-resourcing to manage stress & anxiety
-
guided practice with somatic resourcing to help you prepare for an anticipated event (launch, opening, speed pitch) that's causing stress and anticipation, or to practice grounding, centering and orienting so you can relieve stress, anxiety, and burnout

The soma is the living body, in its wholeness. Somatic training has offered me tools to help clients both explore the wisdom and messaging already existing in your body, and work with embodied practices to transform old patterns that have been limiting in some capacity. Too often, we are caught in the swirl of the mind, which is fascinating though is also a trickster at times. Dropping in to the wisdom of the heart and body, in addition to the mind, allows for a more balanced, more intuitive, more integrated approach to coaching.
Through somatics, I partner with clients in thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal, creative and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and strength, and supports you taking action towards what you care about most. This is a process of life moving toward life. Through embodied transformation, our actions better align with our vision and values, even under the same old pressures. In sessions, we will certainly talk, but we'll also scan the body for sensations to explore, practice centering and grounding, experiment with gestures, metaphors or movement, write and draw, and more. These explorations are grounded in the goals that you, the client, set, and as such, coaching also provides structures of accountability. In sum, this is a transformational, life-affirming emergent process.
